About the Course
Look! There is something floating in the sea. It’s a boat… No, it’s a log…. Actually it’s a raft. A group of resting, floating sea otters is called a raft. Adorable sea otters love to play and frolic around with their family members. They also love to cuddle. Have you ever wondered why sea otters hold hands? Or maybe you wondered why some sea otters have a favorite rock? If so, then this class is for you!
In this exciting class, we will take a virtual trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to watch the sea otters live in action. The students will share their background knowledge and make predictions about sea otters through their observations. We will learn all about sea otters through a discussion, a presentation, and a few activities. We will look at picture, videos, and play a guessing game during class. The students will learn about how sea otters interact with their family and how they hunt for their food. They will learn how sea otters keep themselves and their babies safe in the ocean. We will end the class by creating a sea otter project together.
