About The Course

Do you know that More than 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute? Do you know that becoming a YouTube famous kid isn’t just about being an “influencer”? YouTube is a free video-sharing website that makes it easy to watch interesting online videos and discover things they like. Children can also create and upload their own amazing videos to share with others.

During this course, students will engage in brainstorming sessions with the teacher, students-led discussions, fun instructional games, and amazing hands-on projects! There are many benefits and skills your child can gain by creating videos and posting to their own channel. For example, many artistic, creative, and technical skills are required to just produce a video on YouTube.

We will first introduce the background information about YouTube to make sure the students have a general understanding of YouTube, including the usage of YouTube, YouTube Studio and the basics, Internet safety, Privacy settings, and so on. Every YouTube children's channel needs a central theme. We will show students different types of YouTube channels and guide them to think about their niche, such as what are the videos about, and what makes them different from other content? Once decided on the channel direction, they will create their channel including channel header and profile pictures under the teacher’s guidance.

Now we will focus on the production basics! A little preparation goes a long way when creating YouTube videos. We will show and discuss some video ideas with the students, and we will encourage the students to come up with a list of ideas for YouTube videos. After finding the video idea, students will develop a storyboard recording of when, where, and how they’re going to make the video. Do they need special equipment? Do they need other people? Are costumes or props necessary? Based on the well-organized storyboard, they will start their shooting video process. Students will learn that the right camera and lights are essential to creating great content and building their channel. They will also learn the creative ways to edit videos, add catchy titles, and create icons, banners, and thumbnails. After the video production process, we will show students how to upload the video and discuss with them how to grow the YouTube channel, such as keywords, rend-jacking, incentives, etc…At the end of the class, students will have a well-polished video on their own YouTube channel!
