The importance of arts and crafts spreads to academic excellence. Arts and crafts help children with their concentration, thinking skills, visual learning, and more, which has proven to increase IQ levels. Early child literacy skills in art and crafts cover a wide range of areas – from speaking and reading to listening and understanding. When kids make art or crafts they get to talk about their work which develops their communication skills. “Why did you choose that color?” “Tell me about what you made.” They learn new vocabulary when following verbal instructions. In addition, basic math skills are frequently used in art and craft activities. Kids get to learn about and recognize different shapes, count and sort out their art supplies and even measure out lengths and sizes of art materials.

About The Course
Recycling is important. How do we instill that notion into our children? We could turn it into engaging and creative art & craft classes! In this course, students will learn to combine drawing, painting, sticking, creating, and crafting to create their own masterpieces!
Recycled art & crafts for kids teach resourcefulness! Not only that, we teach kids how things are made, the different materials we use in products, and how these materials impact our planet. By introducing arts & crafts to the kids and involving them in such activities, we will build their cognitive, physical, and social development.
We will start by introducing the concepts of reducing, reusing, and recycling to students, including different recycled materials and non-recycled materials. Students will create their simple arts & crafts including flowers, rockets, ladybugs, and more. They will watch a video to learn fun facts about rockets, discuss the main parts of rockets, and even create their own recycled rocket! Also, they will learn the diet, living habitats, and life cycles of a ladybug, and create a ladybug using various recycled materials from their home! At the end of the checkpoint, students will create their own simple arts & crafts using different recycled materials that they gathered in their homes!
Moving to the next level, students will create intermediate crafts! Some of the arts & crafts included in the intermediate level are boats, castles, and cameras! We will introduce different types of boats and their purposes to students as they create recycled boat crafts! In addition, students will also create their own recycled castles after being introduced to the features of castles, exploring some famous castles, and learning about the history of castles! After learning the intermediate crafts, students will create their own amazing recycled intermediate-level art projects!
It’s time to create advanced crafts! We will introduce the usage of wind chimes and windsocks and a story about them to students! Students will create their wind chime and windsock crafts utilizing different recycled materials. From there, students will learn all about robots, the reasons for using robots, and then make their awesome creations! Now finally students will let their creativity flow to use the knowledge from the classes to create their own advanced arts & crafts masterpieces!

Environmentalist Arts & Crafts
Hello, my name is Amber Bottensek. I am an experienced teacher with a passion for the environment and being creative through art. I have participated in many different environmental clean-up projects including river clean-ups, beach clean-ups, and diving against debris to clean plastic from the ocean. Through all of these experiences, I have learned the importance of teaching reduce, reuse, and recycle to my students at a young age. I love to create art in many different ways. I am excited to combine recycling with art to teach the students how to embrace their creativity and repurposed materials they have in their homes.
The Art of Recycling
Do you know art has always been a powerful way to express ideas and emotions? In this course, students will get to know different recycling materials and learn to use various recycling materials to create awesome art crafts! Find inspiration in the recycle bin as your kids can learn how to make rockets from toilet paper tubes, boats from milk cartons, castles from shoe boxes, robots from cereal boxes, boats from a takeout box and etc... These lesson plans and ideas will inspire your kids to reduce, reuse and recycle! Arts and Crafts is an integral tool in child development as it fuels their curiosity, and creativity and provides them with an outlet to observe, express, explore, and excel through creating things!
